TestCard Net Zero Commitment statement
At TestCard, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and mitigating the impacts of Climate Change. We recognise the importance of taking action to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, particularly as remote working has become prevalent in our organisation. This net zero commitment statement and carbon reduction plan outlines the steps we will take to achieve our carbon reduction goals.
Energy Efficiency
We will prioritise energy efficiency in our operations by:
Conducting an energy review to identify areas where we can reduce energy consumption and implementing the recommended measures.
Encouraging staff to power off their devices when not in use, and to use power-saving modes where appropriate.
Review switching to a renewable energy provider where possible, or purchasing carbon offsets to reduce our carbon footprint.
Remote Working
As we proactively encourage working from home (for those outside of day-to-day operational roles) to reduce travel and carbon footprint, we will continue to prioritise remote working in our operations by:
Encouraging staff to work from home (if role appropriate), or a shared workspace closer to their home, rather than commuting to the office every day.
Ensuring staff have the necessary tools and resources to enable remote working, such as laptops, video conferencing software, and collaboration tools.
Encouraging staff to reduce unnecessary travel by using video conferencing, email, and phone calls where appropriate.
Sustainable Home Office
As our staff work from home, we will encourage them, where possible, to adopt sustainable practices in their home offices. We will:
Encourage staff to use energy-efficient devices and appliances, such as LED light bulbs.
Encourage staff to use natural light and to adjust their workspace lighting to the appropriate level.
Encourage staff to reduce paper use by using digital documents and to print only when necessary.
Encourage staff to recycle paper, plastics, and other recyclable materials in their home offices.
Encourage staff to use public transport, cycling or walking, rather than driving to meetings where possible.
Staff Engagement
We recognise that staff engagement is key to the success of our carbon reduction plan. We will:
Communicate our carbon reduction goals and progress to staff on a regular basis.
Encourage staff to suggest new ideas and initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint.
Provide training and resources to enable staff to work more sustainably and reduce their carbon footprint.
Encouraging Public Transport
For staff that have access to public transport routes, we will encourage them to use it as their primary mode of transportation. We will:
Provide information to staff about public transport options, including routes, schedules, and fares.
Encourage staff to use public transport for their daily commute to work.
Encourage staff to use public transport for business travel, such as attending meetings or conferences.
Sustainable Office
In our Head Office and Manufacturing facility we will:
Only have running the Assembly Room facilities that are operationally appropriate.
Use energy-efficient devices and appliances, such as LED light bulbs, where possible.
Encourage staff to reduce paper use by using digital documents and to print only when necessary.
Encourage staff to recycle paper, plastics, and other recyclable materials.
Encourage staff to use more environmentally friendly routes to work including car pooling, public transport, cycling or walking, where possible.
Water Efficiency
Water is not used in any production operation but individual water usage can make a difference.
Encouraging staff to turn off taps when not in use, and to report any leaks or drips promptly.
Purchasing products and equipment that use less water and encourage our suppliers to adopt sustainable practices.
Waste Reduction
Be waste conscious as a company and take measures to reduce wastage.
Encourage staff to reduce paper use by using digital documents and to print only when necessary. We will also provide recycling bins for paper, plastics, and other recyclable materials.
Encourage staff to use reusable water bottles, coffee cups, and other containers, and provide reusable dishware and utensils in the office kitchen.
Encourage staff to reduce single-use plastics by using alternatives such as reusable shopping bags, straws, and food containers.
Work with our suppliers and vendors to reduce packaging waste and use environmentally-friendly packaging materials.
We will regularly review and update this carbon reduction and net zero plan to ensure that we are on track to meet our goals.
